Machine Preparation
- Inspection: Before use, check the machine's components, such as the injection units, clamping mechanism, and control system, to ensure they are in good condition. Inspect the molds for any damage or wear.
- Installation: Install the appropriate molds for the two - color injection molding process. Make sure the molds are properly aligned and secured to the machine. Connect the cooling and heating systems to the molds as required.
- Material Preparation: Prepare the two types of plastic materials according to the product requirements. Dry the materials if necessary to remove moisture, which can affect the quality of the molded parts.

Parameter Setting
- Clamping Parameters: Set the clamping force, mold opening and closing speed, and position. The clamping force should be sufficient to hold the molds closed during the injection process without causing damage to the molds or the machine.
- Injection Parameters: For each color, set the injection pressure, speed, volume, and temperature. The injection pressure and speed affect the filling of the mold, while the temperature affects the melting and flow properties of the plastic material.
- Switching Parameters: Determine the switching point between the two colors. This is usually based on the part design and the desired color distribution. Set the delay time and sequence for the color change to ensure a smooth transition.
Operation Process
- Start the Machine: Turn on the power and start the machine. Allow the machine to warm up and reach the set operating temperature.
- Load Materials: Load the two plastic materials into their respective hoppers. The machine will feed the materials into the injection units.
- Injection Molding: Start the injection molding cycle. The machine will first inject the first color into the mold, and then, at the predetermined switching point, switch to injecting the second color. The molds will close, and the plastic will be compressed and cooled to form the final part.
- Ejection: After the cooling period, the mold opens, and the finished part is ejected using the ejector mechanism. Inspect the part for any defects, such as color misalignment, cracks, or incomplete filling.

Maintenance and Cleaning
- Regular Maintenance: Perform regular maintenance on the machine, including checking the lubrication of moving parts, inspecting the wear of screws and barrels, and maintaining the cooling and heating systems.
- Cleaning: Clean the machine and molds regularly to remove any plastic residue, dust, or dirt. Use appropriate cleaning agents and tools to avoid damaging the machine or molds. After each production run, clean the injection units and hoppers to prevent material contamination.
Proper operation and maintenance of the two - color injection molding machine are essential to ensure high - quality production and the longevity of the machine.
